COMMIT

FOLLOWING JESUS IS MORE THAN JUST A WEEKEND EVENT – IT’S LIFE

ENGAGE // COMMIT

As we learn about Jesus, we realize that following Him is more than an hour on Sunday. Jesus has called us to follow Him with our whole life. This means we acknowledge our daily need for Jesus and connection with other believers.

Committing our Sunday through Saturday to Jesus can look different for everyone. We have learned that the following habits help us on our journey to committing to Jesus.

DAILY SCRIPTURE READING

"As I get into God's Word every day, it gets into me." The Bible App has made this accessible as a companion on my spiritual journey. Download the YouVersion Bible app on your smart phone today.

BIBLE PLANS WITH FRIENDS

Daily Scripture reading is always sustainable when doing it with friends. As you read Scripture with friends, our questions and observations can be voiced and explored in depth. Start a plan with friends today.

PRAY

Prayer is a conversation with God. Prayer acknowledges our need for Him everyday. Prayer lets God change our heart and our calendar. When we pause to pray, we are telling God that we need Him. Developing a prayer habit takes time and consistency.

CONNECTING WITH OTHER BELIEVERS

Knowing that we have a spiritual family that we can connect with on a daily basis is powerful. As we go about our weekly activities, we should take time for coffee, dinner, or a phone call with other followers of Jesus. This will strengthen our faith and give us opportunities to pray with and support our spiritual family.

SERVE IN THE COMMUNITY

When we have an opportunity to do good in our community, this also increases and establishes our faith. Serving can look like volunteering at a local non-profit, checking in with an elderly neighbor, picking up trash at the local park, taking some non-perishable food items to the local food pantry, and much more. Ask God to show you how you can serve your community each week with the love of Jesus.

BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR

Loving Jesus is loving those around us. Being at peace with our neighbors reflects our love for Jesus and the work He is doing in the world. You are a light to your neighbors.
